about

Rabbi Milton Steinberg once defined the
task of Jewish music as “the preservation
and recapitulation of the past of Jewish
music; the adaptation of it to the musical
present; the stimulation of new Jewish
musical creativity.” McNeil Robinson has
certainly fulfilled this mandate. He was
inspired to compose several different
settings of this text, a meditation which
follows the Amidah, closing an individual’s
private conversation with God. The setting
recorded here was composed in 2005.

lyrics

May the words of my mouth and the
meditations of my heart be acceptable to
you, Adonai, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Amen.
