lyrics

Sh’ma Elohai

K'shehalev bokhe rak elohim shome-a (When the heart cries only God hears),
Hake’ev oleh mitokh han’shamah (The pain rises from the soul);
Adam nofel lifney shehu shoke’a (A man falls down before he sinks),
Bitfila k’tana hotekh et had’mama (He cuts the silence with a small prayer).

Sh’ma Yisrael Elohai ata kol yakhol (Hear, Israel: my God, you are the mighty one),
Natata li et hayai natata li hakol (You gave me my life you gave me everything);
Be’enai dim’a halev bokhe besheket (A tear in my eyes, the heart cries in silence),
Ukhshelalev shotek haneshama zo’eket (And when the heart is silent the soul cries out).
Sh’ma Yisrael Elohai akhshav ani levad (Hear, Israel: my God, I am all alone now),
Hazek oti Elohai aseh shelo efhad (Make me strong, my God, so I will not be afraid);
Hake’ev gadol v’en l’an livroah (The pain is great and there is nowhere to run),
Aseh sheyigamer ki lo notar be ko’ah (Make it end, I don’t have any strength left).

K’shehalev bokhe hazman omed milekhet (When the heart cries time stands still),
Ha’adam ro’eh et kol hayav pitom (A man sees his life passing in front of him);
El halo noda hu lo rotze lalekhet (He doesn’t want to go to the unknown),
Le’elohav kore al saf t’hom (He calls his God as he stands on the edge of the deep).

Sh’ma Yisrael Elohai ata kol yakhol (Hear, Israel: my God, you are the mighty one),
Natata li et hayai natata li hakol (You gave me my life you gave me everything);
Be’enai dim’a halev bokhe besheket (A tear in my eyes, the heart cries in silence),
Ukhshelalev shotek haneshama zo’eket (And when the heart is silent the soul cries out).
Sh’ma Yisrael Elohai akhshav ani levad (Hear, Israel: my God, I am all alone now),
Hazek oti Elohai aseh shelo efhad (Make me strong, my God, so I will not be afraid);
Hake’ev gadol v’en l’an livroah (The pain is great and there is nowhere to run),
Aseh sheyigamer ki lo notar be ko’ah (Make it end, I don’t have any strength left).
Aseh sheyigamer ki lo notar be ko’ah (Make it end, I don’t have any strength left).
