לְדָוִד, יְיָ אוֹרִי וְיִשְׁעִי מִמִּי אִירָא, יְיָ מָעוֹז חַיַּי מִמִּי אֶפְחָד...
אַחַת שָׁאַֽלְתִּי מֵאֵת יְיָ, אוֹתָהּ אֲבַקֵּשׁ, שִׁבְתִּי בְּבֵית יְיָ כָּל יְמֵי חַיַּי, לַחֲזוֹת בְּנֹֽעַם יְיָ וּלְבַקֵּר בְּהֵיכָלוֹ... לוּלֵא הֶאֱמַֽנְתִּי, לִרְאוֹת בְּטוּב יְיָ, בְּאֶֽרֶץ חַיִּים. קַוֵּה אֶל יְיָ, חֲזַק וְיַאֲמֵץ לִבֶּֽךָ, וְקַוֵּה אֶל יְיָ.
L’david Adonai uri v’yish-i mimi ira, Adonai ma’oz hayai mimi efhad…

Ahat sha·alti mei·et Adonai, otah avakesh, shivti b’veit Adonai, kol y’mei hayai, lahazot b’no·am Adonai u-l’vakeir b’hei·khalo... Lulei he·emanti, lirot b’tuv Adonai, b’eretz hayim. Kaveh el Adonai, hazak v’ya·ameitz libekha, v’kaveh el Adonai.

Adonai is my light and my help. Whom shall I fear?
Adonai is the stronghold of my life. Who will frighten me?

One thing I ask of Adonai—this I seek:
To live in the House of God all the days of my life,
To behold God’s beauty and pray in God’s sanctuary…

Do not hand me over to those who want to do me harm;
for liars who breathe hatred have risen up against me.

If only I could trust that I would see God’s goodness in the land of the living. Place your hope in Adonai. Be strong, take courage, and place your hope in Adonai.
