The people Israel shall observe Shabbat and keep Shabbat as an everlasting covenant throughout all generations.
It is a symbol between Me and the people Israel for all time,
that in six days Adonai made the heavens and the earth,
and on the seventh day, Adonai stopped working and rested.

Bind them as a sign on your hand and as a symbol in front of your eyes. Inscribe them on the doorposts of your home and on your gates.

It is for us to praise the Ruler of all, to praise the Creator, who has not made us like other nations, not formed us like all other earthly families, and not given us an ordinary destiny.
And so we bow, acknowledging the supreme sovereign, the Holy One, who is praised –
The One who spreads out the heavens and establishes the earth, whose glorious dwelling is in the highest heaven, whose powerful presence is in the highest heights. This is our God, none else; ours is the true sovereign, there is no other. As it is written in the Torah: “Know this day and take it to heart, that Adonai is God in heaven above and on earth below; there is no other.”
As it is written in Your Torah: “Adonai will reign forever and ever.”
